Excite - Excite UK
Excite currently has over 50 million pages in their index and sites are re-indexed every week. This is a great place to find stuff!>

LookSmart - Looksmart UK
LookSmart is the closest rival Yahoo has, in terms of being a human-compiled directory of the web. The high quality of the directory is thanks to a team of nearly 200 full-time professional editors. A manually compiled database of about 600,000 sites. Browsable by subject. Used by AltaVista their browsable directory. They have a Looksmart Live service: if you type in a query, real people will get back to you within 24 hours, apparently.
